11-10-2009 330) Shinshu Matsumoto Soba MatsuriThere is a festival that is called 'Shinshu Matsumoto Soba Matsuri'
The festival is held once every year around the beginning of October.
Around Matsumoto is famous for Soba (Japanese noodle prepared with buckwheat flour ).
Soooooo, I went to the festival to EAT Soba and more stuff :P
It was a lovely mild autumn weather so I decided to go for a walk to get the festival.
The sky was light bule and the Sun was soft. I enjoyed a walk while feeling an autumn season.
The Soba festival was crowded crazily... It's hard to walk in streets, bit stressful :P
Anyway!
As a breakfast, I had 2 Oyaki, (inside was pickled vegies and fried leeks) and something :P< Can't remember.
↓the shop(ogawa no shou) is famous for oyaki.
↓This is oyaki
(a femented buckwheat dough wrapped around a stuffing of Japanese vegetables,
fruit, or anko bean paste etc etc and then roasted on an iron pan.)
↓pickled japanese vegies. Sorry for messy eating.
fried leek oyaki ↓ It was absolutely beautiful even tho it's a bit smelly.
And this is↓ something Japanese dumpling.
Inside was azuki bean paste.
After the exercise of the stomach of breakfast,
I visited a Soba shop and waited for 20 minutes , holding a glass of local beer.
I dicided to eat yamagata village's soba where is from karasawa soba small rural village.
I ordered rough soba (500yen). The soba was a bit chewy like sticky rice and
you can feel smooth and a bit rough feeling in your throat.
It was wonderful. I love it very much!
one thing was not good, it wasn't a long noodle, it's a bit short.
I'll give 4 stars ★★★★☆ to the shop.
There was many soba shops from the various prefectures, too.
and Matsumoto people eat other prefecture's soba.
To eat the most famous shop's soba, you have to line 2 hours!
Change the topic?
Honestly, I can't understand why the festival is held on Oct?
Because! Matsumoto soba havest season starts fast of Nov...
This means we eat local soba that made by almost one year old soba powder.
NOT NEW SOBA POWDER AT ALL!
Only Hokkaido has been started soba havest seson and most of shops use it this time.
It's not a real Matsumoto soba festival, isn't it???
I wanna say 'The eat all old Matsumoto soba festival' instead.
Do you reckon?
Anyway, I had a great eating autum day today.
As a dessert, I had an apple Gelati with apple skins. It's great, the taste was really really apple. 329) Happy days with my darling in Adelaide :D Part 1(?)I visited Adelaide to see my darling, Philip
We got on trains to go to Aderaide city almost everyday.
Adelaide station looks scary, maybe it's bit dark?
The weather was bit? very … bad
There was very heavy rain and sometimes thunder The rainfall for September quickly made up for the lack of rain in previous years.
But I wouldn't mind even if it had rained 24/7 because Adelaide's weather was several times better compared to the weather
in Sydney and Brisbane.
Sydney and Brisbane's weather were extremely horrible at that time.
A lot of terrible orange dust poured into the the cities and
the people who live there could hardly go out all week
↑Everyday scenery
The weather was not important, though,
because I could share time with Philip, and that's the main thing
The date in the rain was wonderful, too Why? Because in a heavy squall, we were able to walk together under one umbrella
However, In the end I decided it was easier to have one umbrella each... We went to Adelaide zoo ![]() Koara is symbol of Australia right now?
Pandas will arrive at Adelaide Zoo in December.
Adelaide Zoo will be the only one in Australia where people can see Pandas.
I guess that soon the koala won't be popular anymore. Soooooo SAD!
There were a lot of huge trees and fresh greenery.
As I breathed in the forrest air I felt I was turning into a cute elf :P
We also went to the Glenelg beach twice. The very comfortable huge beach.
The beach is a loooooong powdery sand beach with tiny shells and cuttlefish bones.
I wanted to take a lot of cuttlefish bones back home with me for Choco to peck on (Choco is my pet, cockatiel).
Water was bit unclear and
I found a fish crazy house along the beach
A house? No, it is a motel
I was really happy spending time with Philip there.
I felt every day to be bloody fresh :D
Ahhhh unforgettable days.........
To be continued. 19-7-2009 328) I very cannot believe it!18-7-2009 327) This is the Japanese legend1-7-2009 326) YAHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOI will visit AUSTRALIA in Sep!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Click here for further information 13-12-2008 315) Akiyoshido(cave) in Yamaguchi PrefectureLast week I went to Yamaguchi Prefecture for some work-related reasons.
After I finished my duty there, however, I visited the cave called 'Akiyoshido'.
Actually I've been to Akiyoshido before (I think I was 5 years old at the time), and if there was a chance again to visit Yamaguchi-ken, I would absolutely go to there. I visited Akiyoshido yesterday because I remember that when I first saw the cave as a child I got a huge shock,
The cave was sooooooooo amazing. Well, Let's learn all about Akiyoshido!
Akiyoshido (秋芳洞) is the largest cave in Japan and the second largest in all of Asia.
Akiyoshido is a masterpiece of natural art and is located under Akiyoshidai
which is the largest karst formation in Japan.
The cave entrance is northwest of Yamaguchi City in Yamaguchi Prefecture.
This unique karst landscape covers a total of 130 square kilometers and contains more than 300 caves.
The temperature in the cave stays constant all year (about 17℃).
The cave was named "Akiyoshido" by Crown Prince Showa during his visit in 1926.
Before, it was (not so imaginatively) called Taki-ana or waterfall hole.
Akiyoshido took over 300,000 years to form and is still slowly being shaped by water flowing out of the karst plateau above.
The main enterance to the cave is at the bottom of the plateau
where the river of water following out from the cave exits.
Walking through the tall and narrow entrance slit reveals a seemingly impossible sized space
which is up to 100 meters wide.
'Long deep water'
Portions are so wide and tall that it ceases to feel like you're in a cave.
For that matter, the faux-wood fence on the concrete path and flood lights don't help either.
It feels a bit like a cathedral.
'lime flower waterfall'
It's not the most spectacularly beautiful cave in its lower sections for the most part.
Colored flood lights are used to dress up what is really mostly only mottled brown rocks.
'Umbrella show'
Its sheer size more than makes up for this and
midway through there are a number of interesting distinctive rock formations.
The highest accessible area where the path leaves the underground river packs in a lot more interesting features.
It is called '100 large plates
I love the place! When I was 5 I was so shocked when I first saw it! Dry Fall
rice fields
'golden pillar' is the most famous in the cave
It is 15metres high and 4metres wide!
The stalactite takes 100 years to grow by 3cm!!! In all, about 1.5 km of cave tunnels can be trekked through.
It takes about 1 hour to have a look at a cave but I was in the cave for 2 hours.
When i was 5 years old I got a huge shock because the cave was soooooooooooooooooooo amazing.
This time was no different! I had that same impression again!
Ahhhh I really like the amazing cave!
It was a really lovely day!
Please look at more photos in Akiyoshido album.
Souvenirs from Akiyoshido

Can you see growth rings?
